How to play Tremors: Shriek and Destroy

Tremors: Shriek and Destroy is a first person shooter published by SYFY (then known as the SciFi Channel) in 2002 to promote the release of the newest installment in the Tremors franchise — Tremors: The Series. The game is presumed to follow the events of an episode of this show of the same name, however it is really all gameplay and no plot, so we can't exactly be sure of that.
The game runs on Adobe Shockwave, an obsolete technology similar to Adobe Flash that was mostly used for building interactive multimedia and video games. Unfortunately, just like Flash, Adobe discontinued Shockwave a few years ago, in 2019, so it can be hard to run a Shockwave game on a modern machine.
The first thing that you need to do is to download an emulator that is able to run Adobe Shockwave files. The one I recommend that you use is Bluemaxima's Flashpoint. It is a project that aims to preserve access to rich web applications, videos and games that can no longer be played online after all major browsers removed native support for NPAPI-enabled plugins in late 2010s and early 2020s, the most notable of which is Adobe Flash.
Flashpoint is both a collection of emulators for various discontinued and obsolete technologies (e.g. Flash, Shockwave, Silverlight, Java, Unity Web Player, ActiveX and dozens of others) and an archive of games that use these technologies to run, so you don't have to spend hours on the web looking for an executable file for your favorite game and then some more hours trying to figure out how to launch the thing.
And the best thing? Shriek and Destroy has already been added to the Flashpoint Database! (If you're interested to know what great hero obtained the executable file of the game and went through the long and arduous submission process, well, ahem, it was yours truly. Yes, I do accept donations). You can download the latest version of Flashpoint Infinity here.

Flashpoint Infinity

Now that you've installed Flashpoint Infinity, launch it. You don't need to create an account. Find the search bar at the top of the screen, type in 'Shriek and Destroy' and press enter. There shouldn't be an awful lot of games there. Most likely, just one.

Search bar

Click on the game's title in the search results. An infobox outlining the general information about the game will pop up — click the big red button that says 'Install'. Find something to occupy yourself with for a few seconds it will take for this tiny tiny game to download, and then once the wait is over, click the green 'Play' button. Now comes the tricky part.
Where to click

For some inexplicable reason, the game launches with nothing but a completely black screen and some ambient sound. It's unclear why this happens: maybe the file wasn't preserved in the Internet Archive in its entirety, or was corrupted; it could even be a sort of DRM piracy-prevention system on the part of SciFi 21 years ago.
Once you've launched the game and been greeted with a black application box, just click somewhere in the game window a couple of times. There is no system to it and no way to tell if it will succeed, but it's the only way to launch the game. If you clicked on the window and nothing happened, close the game. Repeat the process once more. Keep on opening the executable file in the emulator and clicking randomly on the black void and you're bound to succeed after a few tries.
Tremors Shriek and Destroy game

At one point you'll click on the black window and suddenly see two shriekers and El Blanco right in front of you. This means you did it! Now you can finally play the game. Use the arrow keys to move and look around and the spacebar to shoot your gun.
Tremors Shriek and Destroy bug

If the game does launch, but half of it is covered by a weird brown-ish rectangle, just restart it. It should fix that in a couple of tries at most.
